POMKT_LauraPettit_027.jpg

A little about Laura:

“My artistic journey started in 2014 when myself and a friend started a small business, Urban Rose. We hand-dyed textiles and offered artisan goods and jewelry. It was during this time that I gained a large respect for all handmade goods and the process of producing art.  Fast forward 2 years… I started to play with different fiber arts like macramé and weaving.  Every moment of this self-taught journey has been both challenging and invigorating.

It all began as a creative outlet and has now bloomed into a business of handmade goods for the eclectic spirit.  I aim to bring hand-crafted beauty into as many lives as I can. My hope is that my art brings light, love, and good vibes to you and to your space.”

my write to heal: A Night of Spoken Word and Healing with Alice Gilmore (free event)

Join us for an evening of healing and support. Alice Gilmore is releasing her first zine and ambitious work, entitled, my write to heal, and we are all here to hold her up with our hearts and our presence as we listen to Alice offer a few select readings. This is a free event, and we will have interactive artwork and video installations as part of Alice’s mission to help others feel empowered to share their stories of abuse. This is a celebration of life, of empowerment, a light to be shown on a dark time, a hand extended to those who need it, and a night to show our deep appreciation to Alice for being so brave to share her story so that others may be able to escape abusive cycles as well.

A little about, this new work:

“my write to heal is a collection of prose that documents the pain I endured during an abusive relationship, as well as my journey to heal.  While I write to heal, I am also sharing my story in hopes that it can help de-stigmatize a topic society often deems “taboo,” which as a result, pushes too many of us into silence and further perpetuates the shame that victims of domestic abuse feel.  I hope that in sharing this piece of work, I can shine light on the complexity that exists in the cycle of abuse, as well as inspire others to share their own story.”

We will provide music, wine, community and opportunities to share stories for those who would like to do so. Alice Gilmore’s new work, my write to heal will also be available for purchase in store.

***If you would like to RSVP before the event, that will help us to provide the best environment possible.
Please arrive promptly at 6:00pm as a reading will follow shortly after.

“We are all individuals and we all have the ability to change the type of energy we are emitting. These photos are a representation of what your energy looks like in that moment as it is very easily influenced by your thoughts and emotions and reaction to your surrounding environment whether it be consciously or subconsciously. Our ability to empower our  own thoughts and emotions become so apparent once we realize we can change our purposefully change our auras with intentional understanding. “

MOOD by MOSS is owned by Carrie Moss, an Aura Nomad. She travels the country photographing people and their auras and telling them what their aura color means. We will have the MOOD by MOSS tent in the shop for two days of aura reading goodness. Now is an amazing time to check in with yourself and to see where you are. Carrie is such a sweet spirit, a fast friend, and we first met her when having our auras photographed in Austin, TX last year. We are so excited to celebrate Branden Craig's new collection of paintings! Join us for a night of artwork and Holiday Shopping at POMKT!

We look forward to seeing you all there!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Branden Chapin Craig has loved Art ever since she was a little girl growing up in her real life "Fairyland" on Lookout Mountain. “I was constantly surrounded by creativity as a child and decided early in life to pursue my dreams of becoming an artist.”

Branden studied painting and illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design and received her BFA in 2003. She has worked in New York City, Athens, Los Angeles and is currently back to her roots living in the South with her husband and two amazing children, Max and Cozy.

After experimenting with different media and styles, Branden found her true passion to be composing abstracts, both large and small. Largely, her works are color plays, filled with pops of bright pigment, using a process of layering, scraping and layering again.

“My compositions are in a constant state of metamorphosis. When I set out to begin a painting, I have a sense of the design, but I allow myself to stay open to the changes and movement that inevitably take place. In this way, every piece takes on a life of it’s own.”

For this series, the paintings are a celebration of connectivity and growth. Just as every placement of color and texture holds a different memory, the work is also prospective and explores the constant state of flux and expansion that is the lifeblood of a person working through artistic productivity.

Mini Portraits for Mini babes

#pomktMINI

A lot of people have been asking if we do kid photos. Here's the thing. We don't because our commercial work keeps us so busy. We haven't had the time. But, the questions made us start thinking about how we can use our space to give you guys what you want. With the help of Southerly Flower Farm, we've created a Holiday set in our space! It's overflowing with florals and fairy lights and teepees, and we decided to offer seasonal sets for your minis to come play.

We'll be shooting the babes through the month of December! So come by, shop in our retail space and take some photos while the getting is good!

The response has been so big that we decided to create an eventbrite link so you can sign up and schedule your photos ahead of time!!

We’ll wrangle the child while you shop for Christmas gifts.

xoxo,

Julie, Bo and Goldie (#pomktMINI)
